Why use Maidstr?

Wait times at grocery stores are much longer than usual and customers are either uncomfortable or unable to go themselves due to lengthy wait times and lack of protective gear. Grocery delivery services are overloaded and backlogged, often requiring as much as 7 to 10 days before deliveries are made.

  • Our shoppers will use optimal hygiene practices, from shopping to drop off, including using masks & gloves, sanitizing carts before handling and scheduling regular cleanings of car trunks.
  • Provide consistent updates to our customers regarding their orders. If an item is out of stock, our shoppers will find a replacement or skip the item altogether, after consulting with our customers.

HOW DOES IT WORK

STEP 1 Place your order online

When placing your order online, choose the service "Grocery & Essentials Shopping" from the Choose Service Type drop-down. Next, please select the estimated number of hours based on the type of stores and the number of stores from where you wish to get deliveries.

There is a minimum of 2 hours to a maximum of 5 hours for the grocery shopping experience. A time tracker will track the shoppers’ hours.

Shopping at big box stores like Costco takes approximately 4 to 5 hours.

Shopping at 2 or more stores will take 3 to 5 hours, depending on the stores.

Shopping at 1 store like Loblaws or Sobeys will take approximately 2 to 3 hours.

If the shoppers take fewer hours than initially selected to complete your order, we will inform you and adjust the pricing downwards. If the shopper takes more hours than you selected, we will send you proof as per the time tracker app and adjust the hours upwards.

We offer flat fees of $40/hour so there are no surprises and travel times are included.

Please note that wait times are long due to time spent getting into the store, social distancing inside the stores, availability of grocery items, clean up times by grocery workers and the line ups to check out items.

Within the online booking form, there will be a section marked "Comments" which is where you enter the store’s name and your grocery list.

Step 2 We Set It Up

We want to make this experience as seamless as possible. Once we receive your order, a customer service agent will review the details and will contact you if any further clarification is needed.

On the day and time you selected for your service, the shopper will use text messaging to send you pictures of items being bought, inform of you of out stock items and ask you if you wish to replace any product. After the bill is paid the shopper will text you a picture of the receipt. The customer service agent will be on hand tracking the communication to make sure everything is working smoothly.

Step 3 Let’s Go Shopping

At the designated day and time, your shopper will be at the grocery store selecting your purchases. They will be in touch with you and will be posting the photos of items as they’re buying them. They will be wearing masks and will be using gloves to handle items. They will wipe and sanitize cart handles before using them. The trunk of the shopper’s vehicle will be cleaned before any purchases are placed in it.

Step 4 No Contact Home Delivery

Your shopper will contact you once they leave the store and will send you a picture of the receipt with the total amount. You will e-transfer the amount to them and once that transaction is completed your shopper will deliver the groceries at your doorstep. Ta-da! You’ve got your purchases and you didn’t have to leave the house, battle crowds or get exposed to COVID-19. We can provide this service to you as often as you wish; weekly, bi-weekly or once a month.
